As the build up to the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 is done in the previous paragraphs , now we’ll take a look at the Cricmomics 5 players to watch out in this Cricket World Cup who can surprise everyone with their talent.

Shubman Gill:

Gill is one of the top batters going around the world at such a young age. He is currently ranked as number 2 batsman in ICC Men’s ODI Ranking. Although Gill is very young at this level but in recent times he has gained popularity as one of the best openers in the world cricket. His classical stroke play is very soothing to the eyes and his hand eye coordination with a good technique make him stand out of the other openers going around. Hailing from Punjab Gill is one of the players to watch out for in this edition of world cup being played on his home soil. Gill does not have any weakness against pace or spin and he plays them equally well so he will surely be our top pick for the player to watch out in this edition of the mega event.

Harry Brooks:

Harry Brooks will be our second pick for the players to watch out in this year’s world cup. Harry Brooks is one of those classical stroke player type batsman who doesn’t seem to hit the ball and the ball travels a long distance. Although Harry is not a regular in ODIs but the impact he can create on a game is immense and he is one of those impact players that you need in your team who at any point of the game can back a punch to the opposition. He was called to the squad at very last moment when Jason Roy got injured but in our view point he will set the tournament on fire through his scintillating power hitting. If he can manage spin well in those sub continent pitches he will increase England’s chances of defending the title therefore a player to watch out.

Muhammad Siraj:

One of the most improved fast bowler in the world , Muhammad Siraj holds the key if India has to win the mega event at their home soil. In the recently concluded Asia Cup final Siraj took the man of the match award due to his career best 6 for 21 in that big match. Siraj is one of those bowlers who can bowl long spells and his ability to swing the new balls and the way he takes wickets with the new ball will be crucial for India in this world cup. His opening partnership of new ball bowling with Jaspreet will be a sight to behold. Siraj will enter the world cup as number 1 ranked bowler in the world and there are high hopes by the Indian Team on him to deliver the goods when it matters the most . hence Muhammad Siraj is the one to watch out for.

Imam Ul Haq;

Seasoned opener Imam who will be playing his 2nd consecutive world cup will be our 4th player to watch out in this world cup. Imam has been really consistent for Pakistan in one day internationals over the past 5 years and now its the time for Imam to up his game and show it on the world stage. His average and overall numbers reflects his overall ability as a player and he is one of those gritty cricketers who will churn the runs out in difficult situations. His game against the spinners has improved significantly and Pakistan will bank a lot on him to give them good starts and go deep down in the innings. Imam’s form will be really crucial for the Green Shirts if they want to go deep into the tournament. If Imam has a good tournament Pakistan’s chances will go up in this tournament.

Marnus Labuschagne;

Called in at the last moment as Ashton Agar’s replacement Labuschagne; will be our 5th player to watch out in this year’s ICC Cricket World Cup in India. Labuschagne is well established as a test player but in recent times he is also replicating those test performances into one day international performances. His role will be really crucial for Australia as a top order batter and additionally he can roll his arm over as well and bowl some overs which is a luxury for any captain. His presence in the group will be very beneficial because he is one of those players who can score big runs. Australia are the one of the favorites for this event and if Labuschagne performs according to the expectations, Australia will be a team to beat in the mega event.
